The
Humpback
Although
not seen on every trip to the Nuchatlitz, they are known
to swim these waters. On one tour, we were fortunate enough
to view a lung feeding Humpback, just a short distance from
our kayaks.

 |
Evenings
on the beach
The
Nuchatlitz has some of the best beaches on our coast.
Listening to the sound of the waves, watching the sun
go down, with no one else around, gives a sure sense of
remoteness.

Exploring
Kelp
is the fastest growing plant in the world. It can grow
10 inches (30 cm) a day ~ so fast you can almost watch
it grow!
Kelp
is an important habitat for the marine life in this area,
especial for the abundant and adorable Sea Otter.
|
 |
Sealions
Sealions
can be seen year round but are more abundant in the winter
and spring before the majority of them head north to their
summer homes.
California
and Stellar sealions both spend time in this area.
The
birds above are the Cormorants ~ great divers and a not
so good flyers. But hey, you cant be good at everything.

 |
The
kayaks
We
will be using both single and double kayaks on our tours.
All our kayaks are high quality fiberglass kayaks.
If
you are new to kayaking we highly recommend starting in
a double kayak with a friend or guide, then switching
to a single kayak once you feel more comfortable.

 |
The
shore line
The
Nuchatlitz Marine Park is probably our favorite place
to paddle. The diversity of small islands, sandy beaches,
wild rock formations, sea caves, lagoons and waterfalls,
make this a kayakers paradise.

 |
Ah-inspiring
Islands
There
are plenty of islands to get out on and explore.
This
unnamed island was made up of small stones and sand, with
rocks jutting out of the center.
Sometimes
you feel like you have landed on a far off planet where
no one has ever been.
|
 |
The
wildlife
The
Nuchatlitz is rich with wildlife. It has one of the largest
populations of Sea Otters on the coast, chance encounters
with whales, sealions and other creatures can happen on
each tour.
